Skipper Ledley King struggles to play twice a week with a knee problem and he is expected to miss out.
Tom Huddlestone (knee) is out, while both Michael Dawson and Gareth Bale are suspended.
Vedran Corluka (head) and Roman Pavlyuchenko (ankle) could return.
Bolton boss Gary Megson has a near full-strength squad available, with just Ricardo Vaz Te nursing a knee injury.
